Sunday Happy

And we made it through another week. Good on us!

The past week was alright. Nothing to exciting other then the mr getting his stitches out the other day. I can’t think of much else that went on. Oh Barb came over for dinner one night and I stuffed her full of beans and heard all about it. HA! And you know how I said last week I was getting rid of the tree? Well I did but it took me until Friday to actually get myself to let it go. (I was one of those people. And I think if it wasn’t dead I would have kept it up longer.) I also spent time doing clay stuff, going though a pile of paperwork (how the fuck is it tax season again?) and frost burnt my legs and face with all the subzero running. (I was going out in -25 degrees. I am stupid) It has been cold. Like really freaking cold. And cold I am good with but man we need a snow storm. I would really like a good foot or two of big fluffy snow please and thank you.

And back to Sunday. It is still super cold so I know I am not going to be able to convince the mr to do anything involving outdoor activity (I am fine with that, I will just run in the woods like usual) so I am not sure what we will do. Maybe after my run I will do the grocery shopping and then just spend the afternoon reading and drinking all the coffee on the couch. He did suggest that we instate a daily reading time together (I am so down with this) but the only problem with it is that when we sit down to read, he starts to talk. I don’t know about you but I can’t read and talk at the same time and there in lies the problem.

Oh and one more thing. I am trying to make room for new stuff so all the pottery I have left on the site, stem+node, is on sale, like $10-$20 off. Do me a favor and give it a new home!

What a week. It started off with crazy shit (stray bullet through house) and then it just stayed kind of hectic feeling. Tuesday the mr had his hand surgery which went well so that was good. Then the next day I went to the dentist which also went well but with recent events there has been a lot of hospital/ doctors and I am feeling burnt out with all the visits. One more this week for the mr to get his stitches out and a new cast but hopefully that will be it for a little while Or until the next week when he will have to go back again. 😬.

Other then all the doctors, I went into the studio and cleaned a deep clean, I riffled through so much paperwork just to realize that I need to riffle through a bunch more, and I picked up the first farm share or the year.

Friday my dad came to town and brought his new dog. I was excited to see my dad but realized after seeing the dog that I am in love, want to keep him for myself, and that I might just have to off my dad to make that happen HA!. Anyways…I spent time with the old man while he was in town, went for freezing cold runs and froze my face, and yesterday I finally packed up all of Christmas. Well almost all. I kept the tree up with just the lights for one last day. The mr and I are going to take in out of the house today and I am sad about it. If it wasn’t starting to drop all its needles I would probably keep it up for a while longer. Maybe even be that weirdo that keeps the tree up unit spring, (If you do that then yes, weirdo but also I am here for it.)

So yeah, today we are taking the tree out (maybe… Maybe a few more days? I really love the tree)t and I am going to try and drag the mr outside somewhere (he can’t deal with the cold) but not much else is planned. Probably hit up the grocery store, maybe the library. Keep it a low key day. Maybe I’ll back something. I don’t know. I’ll let the day be what it will.

December 12, 2021 Colleen Stem

Anyone else in a slight state of shock at the fact that it is mid December? Every year it’s like this but this year especially seems like a kick in the face. Whoa, that got intense quick..

The week flew by. Nothing much different happened then then usual. I spent as much time as I could outside enjoying all of the winter weather. We went and hung out with the littles and picked up a single cookie saved for the mr made by Miley. I worked, same for the mr. And I made some garland and baked cookies. The n and there, whatever and what not.

Thursday night we had all the littles, Megan, and Erin come over (no one else showed up) for the mr’s yearly grilled cheese birthday dinner. We all danced around, Patty (Mileys boyfriend) braided hair and helped the littlest ones wash their hands. Judah made the mr an inappropriate but so very appropriate birthday card, everyone ate birthday cupcakes (the mr was bing a ass and wouldn't let us sing happy birthday.), and everyone was happy. It was low key and very nice.

Friday was the mr’s actual birthday and we were suppose to hike a mountain but when he woke up his old man hips were hurting a bunch so we decided to skip the hike and just have a chill day. Instead we went for a little drive, ate lunch by a pond, got coffee. I made dinner (lasagna), Barb came over, we ate, and then attempted to watch a movie together. Sadly I only lasted abut 1/2 hour in before I passed out but you know, I am an old lady too.

Yesterday I just spent the day cleaning and getting increasing pissy about how all the snow melted and how warm is was getting.

Now we are back to Sunday. Well it’s like spring out there and I am not really interested. All the hiking trails are going to be complete shit so I think the mr and I are going to keep it clean and just go walk the paved bike path on the lake and maybe have a picnic for lunch because that is how freaking warm it’s gonna be. Other than that I am going to spend a few hours at the studio finishing up some glazing, repot a few plants, probably clean off the porches, maybe clean the car…I don’t know. Or maybe I will do nothing and sit around and read and drink all the coffee and tea I can handle. What will br will be.

Thanksgiving week coming up on us here and yeah, what the? How? Every year this happens but I guess that what’s expected when it is a yearly holiday. 🤣

The past week was kind of busy. I’m trying to get a big batch of mugs done so I have been spending a lot of time with the clay. I also started, but had to stop, painting all the radiators because the paint store screwed up the paint (gave us the wrong finish) and it took a few days to get back to the store and get the right paint. So I decided to go ahead and paint the bathroom (pink) because why the heck not do that when I have a ton of other shit I could be doing. Besides that, a lot of the same. Walks and hikes, feeding people food, living life. Big news on the mr front though… He got a hair cut. And not from me, but a soon to be professional hair cutter person (It was Qui, our brother friend) He went into a shop, sat in a chair and let Qui perform his very first human haircut on his actual head. And you know, it looks pretty damn good. And bonus, I didn’t have to do it or deal with the hair getting in my toothbrush. (Every fucking time!)

And yesterday we had family Thanksgiving and whoa I am freaking tired. Spent the entire day chopping and peeling. Kneading and roasting, then everyone came over, ate the food, made the mess, and left. It was so nice nice nice to see everyone all together although being that there are a million if us it is hard to cook, talk, and clean all at once so I never feel like I get to talk to everyone as much as I want t. Good thing we have 10 million other family events coming up so I’ll ne able to catch up eventually and noe that I think of it I might as well just leave my house thrashed for the next few weeks and just wait to do a massive clean after all the holiday tomfoolery.

Now it is Sunday and yeah, not going to leave the house trashed. Can’t do it so I am basically going to spend the day cleaning food out of all the cracks of the floor, wash all the laundry that some how ended up dirty (we only use cloth napkins and towels so theres a lot of dirty things) , and reorganize the very precarious food container situation in the fridge. One wrong move and the whole contents could come crashing down. Wish me luck!

Does anyone else feel like time is going by like a sink drip (I don’t even know what that means.) But basically super fast and really slow and holy shit it is almost the end of the year and when did that happen? Yeah, I got hit with that realization and it’s kinda thrown me off and now I don’t even know. You know?

We started off the week with camping at Mt Ascutney State park and we brought along Barb for the fun. Drove down into the gorgeousness of the woods, hiked up a mountain in the cold, walked around the campground in the rain, made food, ate food, and sat by the fire. When the rain got bad enough we slipped into our tents and assed out, woke up, made coffee, and drove on home.

And then it was Barbs birthday so we did that. Food and cake at moms and everyones mouth turned blue except mine cause I don’t eat cake.

Then the rest of the week was a lot of pot painting, waxing, and glazing. I also managed to sneak in a wet ass hike with Meg and So. I also picked up one of the last summer farm shares, cleared out more of the garden, and made a batch of bagels because why not.

Yesterday we had all the littles over to carve/paint pumpkins. It was messy, it was loud, and it was fantastic. The mr was a champ and gutted them all, I made food and offered up my knife cutting skills, and Barb got white paint all over my floor. Miley, Jada and Judah are old enough now where we dont matter much so they did their own thing but little Coco, oh what a ham that kid is! Painted and grooved to tunes and just was such a happy dude. Gosh I love those little people!.

Needless to say the pumpkins came out great and after everyone left I spent the rest of the night cleaning up paint and pumpkin guts…Of course.

It’s Sunday and it is the last camping Sunday of the year. I always get sad when camping season ends but we got this last one and we are gong to make it count. A good hike, a big fire, and all the warmest clothes. It’s gonna be a cold one, it might even snow a little tonight and I am all the way here for it. (Yay!)
