Sunday Happy

I feel like we are stuck in Narnia with the White Witch. Always winter, always snow. It will be worth it though if I get to meet some talking beavers, but until then, I'll start looking for the lion. This cold snow shit needs to end.

The week has been pretty shity and very very stressful so we are going to leave that alone and I'll just tell you about good things, like watching all of my house plants that I repotted grow like gangbusters. Or seeing the veggie seedings start to emerge from the dirt. Half of them need to be repotted but the other half need to go directly into the ground. Glad I didn't get to it this week because the snow and the snow and the ice, oh, and the stupid snow. We were with the Miley, Judah, and Emerson every day this week. We helped them clean and organize their bedrooms, which was stressful, but also fun. I almost accidentally  broke Mileys toes off, Judah showed us magic tricks,  and Emerson taught  us all the alphabet. (And the mr got to play with so many dolls). There was time for So to stop over so I could fix her dress and eat carrots and make me laugh with all the funny faces. And we even had a few days of some what nice weather where I was able to open the windows in the house (that did not last long). Oh and the fridge, I was able to clean the shit out of the fridge. The week didn't completely suck.

I think that highlight of the week is that we found and  awesome new couch (and skill saw). While we were looking for replacement faucets for the bathroom sink (because it is leaking bad) we stumbled upon a very nice, not to big, not to small, vintage, excellent condition, very comfortable, couch. And it was on sale, like super cheap and pretty much exactly what we have been looking for.(there is a picture bellow)  Our current couch, the little yellow one that we use  in our spare room, is way to small and very uncomfortable and after today, it's going bye bye. We pick up the new couch tomorrow. And when we do we will continue or search for a new faucet because we did not find what we were looking for. Until we do we  will be brushing and washing our hands in the bathtub.

Today is going to be the first day in more then a week that the mr and I do not have some crazy crazy happening. So what are we going to do? Well I think we both need to turn off our phone, lock the doors, draw the curtains (we don't have curtain) and hide from the world. Will that really happen, no, but it's nice to think about. But I do think we will spend the afternoon relaxing a bit. I'll paint, or read, the mr will probably work on screens or his fly file (it's officially fishing season) and then we will go to bed early. Next week is a busy, but hopefully a good busy and not like shitty busy. Wish us luck.

April 8, 2018 Colleen Stem

Freshly showered, clean pj's, popcorn, and chocolate bars. I am good at movie night  Notice the mr and his lack of candy... He hadn't taken his shower yet. HA.

The week, oh the week. It has been a full one. The lists have begun. Materials have been bought. Projects are scheduled and ready to go just as long as it doesn't snow again. Aggh. (Waking up the other morning to white stuff was, if not very beautiful, somewhat like a kick I the gut. But it's gone. And sure still is brisk out, but this is it guys, for real this time. Spring) We had Megan's birthday party over here the other night. I made pizza and salad and cake (that I am still finding al over the floor. I swear the people in my family do not know how to eat cake without getting it all over the f-ing place) and everyone was happy. I think. And that is the last birthday happening here for a while. (there are not more birthdays until late summer. HOORAY!)

The littles have been here a lot this week. Having dinner, playing outside, and just pretty much beating on the mr. As a matter or fact, those little are currently asleep in the other room right now. Coco is at the hospital again so the big ones are with us. Never a dull moment here. We spent the day constructing houses out of cardboard, painting them and also getting paint all over the dinning room table. There was some scootering around the neighborhood, chalk art, and just doing stuff outside that we should be doing. We (or they) watched a movie (I cleaned) and then the beginning of my hellish night began. A stomach ache and a head ache for the girl and the boy has been coughing up a lung. Miley just needed to go to sleep but Judah just couldn't. The mr hooked u the humidifier and I have been pushing honey water down his throat every hour all night. I think he finally got himself to sleep at like 2. As for me, I have had no sleep, not a freaking wink. All I could do was listen to his coughing and if he stopped for a few minutes, I would worry and wait for the coughing to start.  And when I wasn't focused on his coughing, I was thinking how tired I was but then I started to think about the  taxes which then gave me an anxiety attack. And the mr started to snore very very loudly.  Plus I was getting up to check on the boy every hour. But both are asleep now and I am not. And it's pushing 5am. I am feeling pretty crazy and think the time for sleep has passed me by.

Not exactly sure what is going on today. All I know is that there are pancakes to be made, popcorn to clean up, and modern cardboard boxes to be finished.  Judah is hoping to install a pool off the side of his house and I think Miley was talking about a bounce castle. (how does one make a bounce castle out of an old yogurt container?) I just hope that they wake up feeling better and that Coco gets to come home today. Then they can go home I can pass the fuck out.

An Easter April Fools Day all in one. This probably doesn't happen too often.  I could imagine that things could get pretty crazy with the holiday combination. I am picturing lots of little littles opening empty Easter eggs, or eggs with rocks, or (fake) bunny poop... because April fools  Ha. That would so be pretty fun to watch and is totally something that I would (and might) do. Would that make me a jerk? Maybe a little but I think it might be worth it.

The week has been and up and down kind of week. Officially 2 years since Sean passed so I have been a little quite, sad, and maybe a little bitchy. Doesn't help that it was just an annoying week in general. Like I almost broke my leg with a 35 lb weight at the gym, but not really. (Word of advice, don't drop heavy shit on your leg, it doesn't feel good and hurts all week). Had to get the oil change and ended up waiting for 2 hours. And I guess I am starting to get spring allergies making me feel heady and tired and Oh, I had to go to the dentist. Still no camera so pictures are are still all off my phone which is driving me nuts and I still haven't finished the taxes that promised myself that I would have done before April 1...Ok, I am done bitching.

But it definitely was not all bad. We had dinner with Shannon and got to harass Jackson for a little while. I won a bag of literal shit (compost) from a library raffle. Then there was farm share pickup where we  talked spring greens with the  farmers because we are all getting a little tired of the roots and very excited for spring. I did some seed planting and cleaned up the yard a bit. The mr and I have been taking some pretty good walks and trying to embrace any nice weather that we can. I talked to Barb about talking to her plants to keep them alive and while Mark was home for the weekend I got to harass him about applying for jobs where he is expected to wear short shorts and be a prick..... I think got some joy in harassing people this week.

Then it was Moms birthday. (HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM) The whole family came over and I made a birthday dinner and cake and cupcakes. The cake was for mom (blueberry coffee cake), who I know well enough to know that she was going to want to take half of it home so I made cupcake too. Those were basically for the little so I made them very neon pink. Shannon hid some candy filled eggs in the yard to keep the littles busy (for like a second) and we all just basically had one big dance party because that's what we do. After dinner we all headed down to the YMCA for the annual pick up basketball game in honor or Sean with all of Sean's friends. A bunch of younger dudes all getting a little older, playing a pretty intense and sweaty game of ball while all the littles and maybe some of the adults (Erin) proceeded to eat their weight in candy. This after all the cake they had just consumed. (The sugar highs were getting intense.).  There was a lot of emotions, but mostly it was a lot of fun and was really good to see everyone.

And then we went home to the trashed house with pasta and cake all over. Like for real everywhere. I don't know how the littles managed to smear pink frosting BEHIND and UNDER the couch, but they did and I am never going to let them eat  in my house again. All food outside from now on.  I then spent half of my day yesterday cleaning up after it all. Pink frosting and pee because apparently there are some boys that have a hard time aiming into the toilet. Fun stuff.

Now it is Easter and I am not quite sure whats going on. I know that I am needed to fill (or not fill, or fill with (fake) poop) eggs and then hide them at some point this morning, but other then that..... There are things and people and Easter stuff, but I am not putting any pressure on myself to participate in anything. I am feeling a bit antisocial and could use quite day. I might just stay home and plant more seeds and pretend that it is not going to get mother f-ing cold out again next week and so I can pack away the last remaining bits of winter. And maybe bunny proof the garden because the bunnies have been hopping around a little to close to my garden beds these days an I am not particularly fond of sharing my food with them. What better way to spend Easter then to keep the bunnies away. Ha.  Maybe when we get chickens back there they bunnies will just stay on the other side of the fence. I'll figure it out one way or another.

Have a Happy Easter April fools.

I don't know if it's because it's spring and the days are longer and we getting more sunshine, but I am feeling good and feeling like anything and everything is possible. Like I could take on the world and do it all. What all is I am not sure yet but I am feeling it. The winter thaw, the spring awakening. Only complaint I have is all the dog poop that is now surfacing from under the snow. And maybe the crazy ass dreams that I have been having. Does anyone else have crazy dreams in the spring? I think it's a thing because it happened to me every year.

This past week was all about the littles. Coco was in the hospital with some nasty bronchitis shit all week which means we had Miley and Judah for the week. We had pretty good routine going on. Wake up, make breakfast and beat on the mr.  Off to school they went and we had a few hours to do what we could do (like chop apart huge trees, sew chair cushions, stock up an food because they eat A LOT, and clean their house and bedrooms).  Then pick up and conversation on the way back to our house, snack time, homework, drawing and game playing, make dinner, go for a walk, watch some Iron man (they had a Iron Man movie marathon going on), nighttime reading, brush the teeth then bed. And that was not just the littles, that was all of us. We function well together. Then Coco the hulk (the meds they had him on made him into hulk monster.. it was amazing) was released from his hospital room and is doing great and the littles are all at their home and now I miss them. But at least I don't have to sit through any more Iron man so I am ok with that. And the mr and I deep cleaned the house yesterday of all the sticky..... How do they make everything sticky?  Those littles. They are freaking awesome.

Today, we are childless with a clean house and it's Sunday so Yeah!!!! The mr is probably going to go off and work on his fly fishing cabinet and I need to go through all the seeds we got at the seed swap yesterday. Plus I rented like 10 books from the library and have been getting back into painting with acrylics  so I think I am going to spent the day doing just that, planting some seeds, reading, and painting. And we have plans for a good long walk. It's all about taking it easy today. And hey, it's spring so it's time to spend all the time outside!

Ah winter. Warm and sunny one day, then bam, snow and wind and bitter bitter cold. Why you got to be so fickle winter?

I shoveled quite a bit this week. We didn't get as much snow as some, but.we got enough to keep me busy.. The world is now heavy with fluffy (although it's pretty heavy now) white. With all the snow we were able to go for a nice long winter hike AND we went snow showing which was fantastic and beautiful and was a great little end of winter treat. Now my hope is that we were going to finish up winter with this last hurrah this week  (another storm is a'comin). One more week is fine, I can handle one more week of really cold and snow and ice  because it will all of a sudden be spring. Then we can finally put the boots away and I can uncover my bike that I prematurely brought out into the world and is now a bike icicle (a bicycle.. haha)  I can make it one more week, I think I kind of have too.

Besides the snow the rest of the week stuff went mostly well. As always there was work, littles, and a grocery cart full of cabbage,  although I did break my freaking camera. I first I thought I just smashed the lense but there is definitely something broken it the body. How it happened? I got the strap caught on a handle while I was taking pictures and it kind of tugged/yanked out of my hand and smashed into the wheel of the kitchen island. So son of a bitch I have to get a new camera. But hey we got new tooth brushes and we all know that new tooth brush day is always a fine day.

Friday night we went out on the town and hit up the opening night of Mileys play Mary Poppins. First off, Miley was awesome and did a fantastic job. Secondly, holy crap was that torture. I totally and completely understand that the play was more for the kids, and like the mr said, we were there to watch the kids learn and have fun, but 3 hours of sitting in plastic chairs with grumpy littles and not being able to even hear a word the kids were sayings... It was rough and it kind of kicked my ass. Yes, an elementary school play kicked my ass. But jeez, 3 hours...I guess I am not one for the theater.

It's Sunday and I am feeling fine. The house is clean, I washed my hair last night so I don't have to do it today, and I have a good book to keep me reading throughout the day. I am contepletaing weather or not to play around in the kitchen and maybe start making some bagels?... If not today, this week for sure. I might just settle for a  good long walk, coffee, and reading all day long. That would make me pleased as punch. Hopefully your day will make you pleased as ouch too.
