Sunday Happy

Ok so Its some of you may know I am not the biggest fan of summer. (to say the least.) But you know what, this summer so far has been pretty fantastic weather wise. Only a day or two of unbearable heat but mostly just super freaking nice. If this was how summer always was well then I might just really like summer.

And we blasted through another week. After last weekends market I thought I was chillin pretty for a few weeks but last minute was set up to be in na big art festival on Saturday. So basically I spent the week getting as much done (pottery is not a fast process) for that. Bedside running around with my head chopped off, I did other stuff. The mr and I went for a long bike ride. I went and picked myself a bucket of lovely flowers at the farm. I ate no less then 4 lbs of lettuce and spinach (our farm share is HUMONGOUS), had dinner with the fam at my moms, and fed Megan’s evil cat.

Saturday was the art festival. We woke up early, headed into the mountains on the finest summer day, set up, and slung those pots! People were all about being super awesome, many a pots went to new homes, and I damn near lost my voice from all the talking I did. The mr was with me the whole time, helping me set up, keeping hydrated, forcing me to eat, and letting me take a break to relieve my bladder. He is the best. And you know what else is the best, not having to repack most of the pots. Break down is always so much easier when the crates are empty. HA! (Thanks again to everyone that came out!)

Sunday. So we were going to start our camping adventures but we have pushed it back to next weekend due to the fact that I am exhausted, haven’t pulled out the tent and stuff, and I still need to unpack the car from the festival yesterday. Yes I am bummed but It’s ok, we still have like 15 or so more good weekends of camping coming our way. So instead we are going to go for a hike and then pick flowers down at the farm then I am going to unpack said car, eat some food sitting down, wash my hair like an adult, and go to bed early. It’s gonna be a long week of sitting at my wheel to get pots made for the next market. My back will probably hate me but I will love every second of it.

Can you believe that we are half way through the year already? It is giving me a little anxiety, like I am having a mid year crisis. All I can think of is like ‘what the hell did I do thins year?’ And I know I have done a lot but still, its that feeling of time gone by and things that I should of or wished I have done already. Oh well can’t do anything about it now. HA!

We had a pretty good and fun week. We did some stuff besides the stuff of life matinence. The mr and I took the kayaks out and paddled/blew around on a big pond for a afternoon. We went for a walk that turn into a 10 mile walk ( I got stung on the foot on that walk), I picked up like 8 ponds of greens from farm share (no joke) and now all I eat is lettuce, and we took the littles strawberry picking on the coldest summer day on record. At the farm in the play area the mr found the mini excavator in the sandbox and I think he had more fun playing with that then anything else we did this week.

Sunday. Today the mr and I are both doing work. He has a project that he needs to finish up and I have a shit ton of stuff to glaze before the markets. But it’s all good because we are going to take the first half of tomorrow off and go do something fun together. Plus we are gearing up for camping soon so once we start, its on. No more Sunday work!

I am hot and it is only the middle of May. I shouldn’t be this freakin hot. I hope this weather is not a preview of things to come this summer cause if it is then I am in trouble. And probably anyone that comes near me.

The week. It was meh, whatever. I feel like I am falling behind on everything in life so I have been little cranky and annoyed. I can blame some of it on the sudden summer weather but also I think I always feel this way around this time of year. June is a super busy month for us (apartment turn overs and the such) so getting as much shit done now helps the transitions go smoothly and we can never get enough done fast enough. This year nit exception, more so it has been kind of rough start already. The mr smashed out the back windshield of his truck with a 2x4 basically right after he blew out one of his tires. He also had stupid work stuff happen and so he has been stressed and a crank ass all week too. Oh and I got stung on my ass by a yellow jacket because why not?

It wasn't all a wash though. The littles and Barb came over for food and park play. I worked on pots (in my cool basement) and picked up my last winter farm share of the year. (3-4 weeks until summer share starts and I am already rationing out what I have left which is basically beets and onions.) And I went for a small bike ride, worked in the garden some, picked some lilacs. Little good things you know.

It’s Sunday and today the mr and I have plans for a good hike. The temperature should not be stupid and it might even rain so it will be great. And I need it. I need to get out of town (although not to far… gas is DUMB expensive) and hide away in the newly greened up trees. I might hate the heat but I am loving the colors and smell of fresh life. And with what ever time I have left this afternoon I am going to spend it in the garden. I already have a few of the beds planted and am ready to just stick everything in the ground. My tomato plants have been living outside for the past week and are thriving so if they are good, well it is time.

Holy shit it is May.

Its been a pretty uneventful week. We went to Batbs play (she was great but I really don’t like small theater…) I did the switch over from running leggings to running shorts (my legs are so pasty white), did some yard work, and I stared more seeds. The mr has been working like 12 hour days everyday so I have barely seen him. I’ve just been doing my usual but also feeling the brain affects of all the allergies so kind of feel like I am just moving along with the days. But I got to give a shout out about the weather. It has been pretty freaking fantastic and I hope it stays like this all summer long.

So yeah, back to Sunday. The mr is working all day again so I am on my own. I think I am going to do a little studio work for the morning and then take myself on a decent bike ride later in the day. I’ll probably stop by the mr’s work and throw some food at him as well cause I am the nicest girlfriend. Didn’t you know?

January 30, 2022 Colleen Stem

How is it really the end of the month? Sure every January feels like a time warp but this one especially. I am still coming to terms that it is not 2020 anymore and now that it is 2022… my mind can’t handle it. So my solution is to completely give up on trying to track the date and year. Who cares anymore right?

The week. Well it wasn't the greatest. It started off fine. The mr and I went and took in some sculpted ice, we had dinner at my moms, and I spent some time at the studio playing with glazes. Then Wednesday morning I woke up with a sore neck and a few hours later it was the worst pain ever and I knew what was happening because this happens a couple times a year. Something moves wrong in my old lady body and I can barely move my neck for a few days. And those few days suuuuuuck. I can’t lay down without wanting to cut my head off, sitting hurts, standing hurts. And all I can do to make it feel a tiny bit better is ice and heat so that is pretty much what I have been doing for the past few days. I mean I did go to work and have Barb over and I did go for walks and to the library but that was me pushing myself so I didn't loss my mind. Jeeze I really am an old lady.

So whatever, the week wasn't a total bust and my neck is feeling a bit better ( I can turn my head a little and laying down isn’t the most painful thing anymore) and now it is Sunday so the mr and I are probably going to do something. What we do has yet to be determined (still super cold and the mr can’t handle it) but hopefully it involves getting out of town and drinking coffee. We should be able to make that happen.
