Sunday Happy

What. The. Fuck.

We are all thinking it in some shape or form because this new world we are living in so strange, and kind of scary. But I am ok. Are you ok?

So the week, well it’s been a blur. Ever since Sunday we have stayed away from everyone except my two older sisters with the littles and Barb. And those guys are staying away from everyone too. We are in our own quarantine bubble. With Megan still working and Erin being a single mom with 3 kids, the mr, Barb, and I have become child care for the other guys. A kid walking service as it may seem.(HA)  Everyday we have been taking the littles hiking in the woods. It is so good for them and so good for us. Fresh air, trees, the sound of bird chirping… Nothing beats it. And I think after this is over, that’s what I’m gonna do. Dog walkers are a dime a dozen. Little walkers, that is where it’s at. I’ll pick up your littles, run them through the woods and then drop them off exhausted and covered in mud. Now that is genius! I am so smart!

Other then that, just staying away from everyone! We are not doing any jobs at the moment and are lucky that we can still do a few things that need doing without having to worry about being in contact with people. The mr has done a few things for some elderly people this week that are to vulnerable to go out into the world because he is an amazing and generous person, but he is being safe and keeping all the distance. I know that this has been harder on him then on me. He is a very social person and usually sees and talks to dozens of people everyday. Usually in and out of multiple peoples houses, in stores, just basically all over, so this week he has been home and I think he might be going a little nuts! But he is fine and is dealing pretty well. Then there is me. Besides from not working at the studio or going to the gym, my life has not taken a hit what so ever. And my food diet has stayed exactly the same and I know I am very lucky to have been living the life of a vegan hermit for years now. Beans, oh I got beans. Bread, well that gets baked here everyday. Boared, um, heck no, I have a million things on my list of things to do and my studio is in the basement so there is always work to be done. And no, I would rather not you come over to my house. Ever. This has already been my life. I think the hardest thing for me at the moment is just the worrying about the world and worrying about my parents and those that are high risk. It is overwhelming and that is when I start to feel crazy and scared. That is when I open a book and read. Everyone is doing all this TV watching right now and I get that. You do you. Me, reading is what is keeping my brain sane, it’s my escape. What about you? Are you a reader or a watcher? If a reader, what are you reading now? I think after I finish this book I am currently on I’m going to go for round 5 of re-reading all the Harry Potters. It’s been a few years and I think it’s the perfect time, don’t yo think?

Today. Well the mr and I are going to drink coffee together, talk about the news that happened over night and then some things that are a little less heavy. Then I am going to bake another loaf of bread for lunch, rake the yard and assess the garden beds, and drink more coffee. After lunch we are grabbing the littles and walking them down to the waterfront to get their daily dose of sunlight and exercise and yes, we are going to feed the ducks.

Oh, and Happy SPRING!!!! And stay healthy.

What happened to all the trolls? I was never a big collector of any specific toy, like I was not into barbie dolls or anything, but I do remember really being into trolls for a hot minute. I think it was the crazy colored hair and the being naked and all. Troll style is definitely life goals when I am old. Running around naked with purple hair. Sounds good right?

How was your week? My week came and went by really fast. Not a lot happened other then the usual work/life stuff. I did get the brakes done on the car. Woot woot. And I have been trying to spend more time working on pots and accomplish my goal to have my stem+node website up and running by today. But guess what, not quite there yet. Next week for sure, but honestly, I am just getting little gun shy about it. Don’t really know why, or I do, but whatever. Next week, which was the date I told myself I would have it done by for sure. So yeah.

Anyways, not much thought the week. Friday, after I got out of work, Miley and Judah came over for a sleep over. It was planned all week. Sophia was suppose to sleep over too but she ended up being sick so down to the other two. Then Judah ditched us after dinner to go see a stupid movies so it was just us and Miley. And that was fun except I guess the mr and I are not very interesting to an almost 13 year old girl. Long story short, she basically ignored us until we took her to the mall. (I know, but it was the better of her two options. I couldn’t go to the movies) After that she then went back to ignoring us. Good times. We did go up to the hospital to visit with Coco who is back at the hospital again (poor freaking kiddo) and the mr finally cleaned out the car!. And that’s that and wow I feel lame. HA

You didn’t forget what today is right?

It’s Groundhog Day! Duh. A super great, super awesome, just a super super duper day. And that is all I care about in terms of super things today because super anything else is just not the kind of super I am into. Ha!

Everything this week has flown by in a blur. I feel like everyday I have been really busy running around, going to banks, DMV-ing, stores, and packaging sending places. A bit of this, a bit of that, and all the other life chores coming at me. Plus I have been getting ready to start selling my stuff at an art market so I have busy busy trying to gather my stuff, finish pieces, and make it look like I am legitimate and know a little of what I am doing. (Not an easy task.) The mr has been super busy running around doing small work projects for people all week but in between all that, he still has managed to help me out so so much. He built me a crazy rocking cool display for my rainbows, helped me with business card, and has just been a overall support for my crazy lady shelf, even when I am being an asshole. (He is the best!) And to top it all off, I have had a low grade ick that just is barely there but is there and is driving me nuts. One day my head hurts, the next my throat, and now it is my ears and throat. Grrr. But I am not going to complain too much. It could be worse.

Besides feeling slightly hectic and busy, we did manage a dinner night with my mom, Paul, and Barb. That night was memorable due to the fact that I might have accidentally, but on purpose, spilled a very large glass of water directly into the mr’s lap for reasons that had to do with carrots. He has not let me forget what I did all week but I do not regret my actions. I take my carrots very seriously. Haha. We also had the littles over for dinner and I damn near had to pry their little hands aways from the electronics they came over attached to. That was a bitch of battle and for anyone needing to know for future reference, my house is now a ZERO hand held computer apparatus space. No iPads or phones or video game shit. Only real life fun times.

I can’t think of much more then that, other then being extremely disappointed in the weather. And now the week is over.

Today is the day. Gonna be wheeling and dealing my wares. 11-3, at the art market at 2creativecommuinty in Winooski. Come on by, say hey hey hey, and check out and maybe buy some cool art!

Sunday Happy

September 29, 2019 Colleen Stem

It’s officially fall and officially fantastic. All of my sweaters are so happy to see me, and me them. So are the sweatpants and the socks. They are here for me to keep me all cozy and warm. Nothing like coming home on a cold dreary day and throwing on a big chunky sweater, a oversized pair of soft sweatpants, and thick wool socks. Add a cup of hot tea, a good book, and a lap blanket and heading out tp sit on the front porch and breathing in all that fresh fall air. So good. So freaking good.

Last Sunday camp was at Gifford State Park. Another Vermont gem. So pretty, so quite, the colors starting to show in the trees. We went for a nice hike into a forest of old growth trees, then launched out the kayaks on a nearby pond and paddles around for awhile. Back to the campsite for lentils and zucchini then the mr fired up some wood and we watched the sun set behind the golden trees. Laid under a sky full of the brightest stars and watching the trees whip around and listened to the wind blow hard and wild all night long. It was dang near perfect. And after the morning coffee making and tent taking down, off into the week we went.

Back in town we got back to it as per usual. The this and that of life. I made gallons of applesauce, fed Barb and went on a tea and pumpkin run (fall essentials). Went over to Moms for dinner and so the mr could fix her sink. I harvesting the last bits of summer from the garden then went to Costco to find a Christmas tree??? (They had them set up right next to the bathing suits and halloween candy. 🤷🏻‍♀️) We did some more stuff that needed doing. Looked at land in the wilds of Vermont (found a piece but there were offers on it already. So bummed) I worked the studio, picked up farm share, and I worried about the mr after he stabbed himself in the eye with a screwdriver and almost lost the eyeball. Then we had the boys sleep over Friday for Mileys birthday so she could have a sleep over with her friends at her house. We made pizza, went to the park, and all cuddled up in pile of blankets while they watched a weird cartoon something that I paid zero attention to and I read and kind of fell asleep. The next day after pancakes we dropped the off, the mr and I did the chores and then went back over for a little family party for the birthday lady. The mr made spaghetti, Miley and I decorated her cake, then they ate the pasta, then the cake, and then the mr and I peaced out to come home. Straight up, I was feeling way over stimulated from days of human interaction. So I pretty much passed the F out when we got home. I love my family but jeez can they make a lady tired.

Sunday for reals and I am feeling ready. Today is suppose to be another fantastic day, slightly on the chilly side maybe but not raining so that is good. We are heading out for one of the few camps we have left for the year. Zack Pond Woods. A little pond with a couple of undeveloped designated campsites. It is first come, first to use so we are super hoping that we get there and there will be a place available to set up for the night. If not, we might have to boogie over to a campground near by that we have already been too. But I am feeling like there might not be a ton of people trying to camp out on a Sunday night when it is suppose to get into the 30’s overnight and maybe rain the morning. I am ok with all that, especially if that means other people aren’t and leave us be. HA.

Anyway, hope you all are having a grand old weekend and taking in all the fall and focusing on eating all the apples and pumpkins. We know your priorities!

Sunday Happy

Not just sweater weather, which it had been all week and I am LOVING IT, but it’s lamp light weather too. I forgot that I had all these fantastic lights around my house and yesterday when it was dark out at 6 (it was raining so the sky was cloudy) I got to turn on a couple lamps that haven’t had any action in months. It was soooo nice and cozy. This my friends, this is the best time of year!

Camping last week was great and not so great. The campground was pretty, but our fellows campers were very rawdy and loud and there was a party at the picnic pavilion that had a shitty classic rock cover band playing. The noisy people and shitty music echoed through the park for longer then anyone should have had to deal with it. But I guess that happens, especially on a long holiday weekend. And really, besides the buttheads, we had fun. We went for a nice hike through the woods and into giant fields of wildflowers and goldenrod then spent some great time in the kayaks on a nearby lake (away from all the people). Plus after eating dinner and then packing it in for the night, we didn’t get soaking wet, which we could tell by the many car doors slamming and people screaming at 1am , a good few people did. Our tent stayed nice and dry inside and we even managed to stay dry when we got out of the tent and and realized it was sitting in a giant puddle. We even managed to stayed pretty dry packing up and getting on our way home, in the rain! It’s because we are good at coming I guess.

Then the rest of the week came and went in a fast blur. Mostly some same. Had lunch with Barb, cleaned apartments for new tenants,, made cards for artwork, picked up farm share, and you know, other life stuff. I have been busy in the kitchen harvesting garden food and canning or freezing it as well. Trying to stock up on as much food as I can for the winter. Then the littles slept over Friday. We watched Dumb and Dumber and I fell asleep on the couch. Woke up made waffles (I was so excited to use my waffle iron. It’s been too long) and sent them on their way home to be moody tweens because that is now happening.

Oh, and I can’t forget about how some little shithead smashed in the back of our car. Yup, that happened too. But that is pretty much it. I think….

Now for today. Mt Auscunty State park if all goes to plan. Should be a fun one with lots of hiking and a big high tower and stuff. I know it is gonna get mighty cold tonight so I am packing my winter long underwear and a jacket, hat, and mittens. So excited!
