Sunday Happy

The mr and I just got back home from the night in the woods. Random woods camping. Never a disappointment, always a good time, and free. Free and no people. What more can you ask for?

And so my brain, as per usual after a good night of camping, is a little on the “why did we come back to civilization?” side. I am unfocused and a little tired and smell like dirt and sweat. On that note, I give you what I have from the week, which is not a lot at the moment. It know it was decent but not very eventful. We did some stuff, worked on things, moved around this and that, and ate food. I could give you more details but I don’t really have the energy to remember them so 🤷‍♀️. Then yesterday we went into the woods to hike and sleep and had us a 100% perfect time far and away from people and things.

Now we are back home because we had to come back (the mr has some work things needing to be done today). I think after I am done writing this I should jump into the shower to wash the smell the pee off my feet. Then I need to water the plants, drink lots of water, and get ready for the 100 plus degree day that is laying ahead. I don’t exactly know what I am going to be doing today but I am already pissed off just thinking about how hot I am going to be. Maybe I will just lay in the shade with the sprinkler cascading on my body or just hide away in the basement and read. You know what I do know? I know that 100 degrees is just stupid.

Internet stuff from the week.

-We should all be wearing masks already but if anyone can convince people that are still not to actually wear one, it’s this guy. Will you wear a mask if Morgan Freeman asks you to? We’re about to find out

-Bill Nye says trust in science is key to beating COVID-19 and climate change. Because science is real and opinions and uneducated bull shit is not in fact, facts. Listen to Bill.

-Are you one to just toss anything and everything that has a hint of mold? Truth be told, I have never been offset by a little mold here or there. Just be smart about it. And if it taste like mold, well then, don't eat it. Mold on Food, Explained

-How to Watch Comet Neowise’s Spectacular Show. I think I saw it last night camping. There are so many shoot stars too so I could be wrong. Either way, the sky was fucking awesome!

-When we re sheetrock the bedroom I am going to for sure going to do a built in bookshelf next my side of the bed just like the one in the picture. DESIRABLE DOZEN: COFFEE TABLE BOOKS & CHIC MAGAZINES.

-The End of Minimalism. Keeping a cluttered house has long been considered a little tacky, a little weak. But now it’s looking very wise. Interesting take on having lots of stuff, but I still hate having stuff!

-The mr and I were doing school stuff with the littles and it was a pain I the ass. And they might not be going back, or at least full time, for a while. Mayne this might be a good time to try this. The case for unschooling, because honestly I feel like the last semester was kind of bullshit and they really didn’t learn anything.

-Michelle Obama to launch podcast about relationships and health. In my mind Michelle is one of my best friend so I am really excited. Goodness I miss the Obamas. So so much.

And a few pictures from the week

I don’t know about you but this past week I had a massive case of heat rage. The heat and humidity together turned me. It curdled my soul and I spent more time worrying about my braincells and if the drip coming from my ears was sweat or if the wax was just melting and leaking out. It wasn’t my greatest week, thats for damn sure.

Besides being a miserable excuse of a human half of the time this week, the other half I was trying my hardest to be productive and not a complete lazy and cranky bitch. So I did stuff. I loaded a kiln and talked clay for the first time in months which was good for my studio space and good for my mind. The mr and I had dinner at moms again. I picked up farm share and then picked flowers. I ran a lot and biked a lot but early early in the mornings. Then I made THREE birthday cakes (one was an ice cream cake…that was a fucker in the heat) and helped decorate for the surprise birthday party for the 3 nieces. Their birthdays are pretty much all the same day (Laura is the 21, Emma the 22, and Kayla the 26) which is so smart cause then you only need to have one big party. Ha. . The party was great, the whole fam (and just the fam) hung out in the shade of the trees and tried not to melt. Good times as always.

And there were other things but my basic bitchiness clouded over it all. So yeah. I really fucking hate the heat.

Today the weather calls for thunderstorms and slightly cooler weather and I am ecstatic about it. So for the day ahead I am planning to do a few putzy house chores (I have a fair amount of laundry to do) and then it’s going to be me on the porch, with a book, and all the coffee. If the lightning is far off I might even talk a walk in the rain. I think it will be a good day.

July. My least favorite month of the year. Why? Basically because it is hot. All the time. And I hate it. I am already dreading the week ahead for the mere fact that we are suppose to have another nasty heat wave. I can’t. I just really can’t. I already know I am going to be miserable and unproductive and physically sick. So I am planning on just spending most of my time in the basement. Hmpf, I am going to be such a crank ass next week. Preemptive sorry if you end up having to talk to me. Your best bet would just to wait until August. I’ll be better then.

The week was good. Lots of stuff all over. I worked in the studio a good bunch, went to dinner at moms, did a bike ride with barb and a couple of hikes with the mr. We had the little over for dinner and basically just talked about how cool I am. (the coolest!) And I looked on while the mr and Barb did their thing with spray paint, the side of our building, and a message to the world. I also weeded the garden in vain, picked up farm share, and ate 3 zucchini a day. That is one of the few redeeming things about July. All the food. But otherwise, I still hate it.

Today the mr and I are going on a little afternoon date. I saw a new outdoor sculpture park that I want to check out so we are packing lunch and heading there (hope no one else is!) After that we are going to do a little creative research on natural playgrounds and how to incroporate weather shelters so we going to scout out some playgrounds. Then we might even do the thing that we have been saying we are going to do for a few months now….buy new phones. Meh. But probably not because I really really just don’t want to deal with it. I can handle not being able to hear people talking or having random texts appearing days after they are sent. It is the mr. He kinda really needs a working phone. So maybe.

Sunday Happy

I am sitting here thinking how strange it is that it’s already the end of June. Time flies by so fast in normal circumstances but this season in life, well time is so warped and crazy and wow, it’s the end of June and I don’t even know how I feel about it. Almost like the past few months have been the shortest and longest I have ever lived through. Some strange strange times.

The week was good and productive in many ways. Started off with a lot of hose chores like finally painting the desk I have been wanting to pant for months, cleaning the basement, and lots of garden weeding. WE had dinner with my mom and the boys, went to curbside pickup at the library, and picked up my farm share.  I also took Barb strawberry picking with me and since have been trying to stop myself from eating them all in one sitting. I only have a few left but lucky I can go pick again this week. And flowers too!!I am really excited for pick our own flowers. I have the best farm!

The mr has been working like a madman doing all sorts of house stuff on all the houses so we haven’t been able to do any big hikes or anything this week but that is ok because half of the week was still nasty hot and I hated every minute of it. And finally for the first time in a while, I spent a good amount of time everyday working in my studio. We have just been so busy that I haven’t really gotten down there but I got on a good kick and threw a bunch of new pieces. I am working on planters at the moment and am really into the new design that I am doing. Hopefully others will be into them too and maybe once I can fire shit again, will buy some? (no pressure…). Also big news….Taxes are filed!!!! That was a shit show and they are done and I never want to think about them again except I am already thinking about them for next year. Blah. Never ending. Other then that, not a lot of big news.

The weird part of the week was that we didn’t see any of our littles . NONE! First time in months that we haven’t seen at least someones kid(s) almost everyday. And we miss them, which means that they miss us too? Yeah, probably not so much, but hopefully we will find a way to see them this week, at least someones kids because I need a little of that care free, summertime, lets do fun things, mentality. littles are good at that.

And thats about it, or at least that is all I can remember at the moment.

Today the mr and I are planning on going hiking. Far into the woods to a river, away from all people. and hanging out for a while. He will fish, I will read, and sure it might rain but don’t care. We need the trees.

How are you doing these days? Me, I am fine. Fine. Fine, fine fine. I am fine right?

This week was a doozy. It started off good with a family BBQ party for Anthony’s high school gradation. It was great. The weather was perfect, Megan was happy, Anthony was happy, and it was just nice to see family together at once again.

But then the week started to suck. A list of bullshit. It started with a cute little stupid asshole wood chuck. In the matter of 24 hour, the hairy little fucker ate my ENTIRE GARDEN!!!! Pretty much everything. All the greens, the beans, the zucchini plants, all the flowers, the radishes, I mean, EVERYHITNG. The only thing that it kind of spared were the tomatoes, although he did munch on them too. So I cried. and I yelled and cried some more. Then I replanted and fenced off my garden. Hopefully he won’t come back after the mr plugged the hole in the fence and had a stern talking-to with him…..

And then there was a lot of drama drama drama with a family member that I don’t want to get into but oh my fuck. Some people, I just can’t. I am gonna leave it at that.

And then the fridge decided to stop working again.

And I got stung by a yellow jacket and my arm blew up and itched for days.

And we are in a heat wave.

And I am getting ready to finally file taxes….

AAAAAAHHHHH!

So yeah. Not the finest week. But there was good stuff too, I am just to cranky right now (so freaking HOT!) to remember. HA! I really hate hot weather. I think I get a little summer seasonal affective disorder. For real.

Today the mr is working and I am spending the day doing chores. I have a desk that needs painting, a basement that is is dire need or cleaning, laundry up the wazoo, and a broken fridge that need fixing, again. I am also going to smack on my respirator and go to town on the clay dust in my studio. Then maybe I will allow myself some time to lay on the kitchen floor with my hot sticky body pressed against the cool wood floors, with a hot coffee in hand of course. Fuck I hate hot weather!

Sorry for the ranting. Have a fantastic day!
