Sunday Happy

The past few days have been almost summer like around here and I am not having it anymore. I look at my sweaters but do not put them on because it’s too hot. Seriously the fuck?

The week started at Half Moon Stare Park. We hiked around a nearby lake, took the kayaks out for one last time before winter, and enjoyed all the pretty colors that the trees we flashing. It was gorgeous and wonderful and we didn’t even mind that the park was full of out of state leaf peepers (Well, the mr didn’t mind. I was a little annoyed but you know..) Then after a feast of soup and a relaxing evening fire, we crawled into the tent and passed ourselves out. Woke up, broke down the tent, made the coffee and headed on home.

The rest of the week was pretty uneventful. Started the fall list of things to do before winter. I ripped out most of the garden. Worked, made phone calls, did the stuff that needed doing. Yeah, not really much to say about that.

Back to Sunday. Camping as usual but this week we are brining along Barb. Heading out early, driving south to a mountain to climbing it, then gonna hang out, eat food, and enjoy the last bits of fall foliage with nice cool weather next to a camp fire. I got my hat, mittens, and long underwear packed. I am here for it!

Nova Scotia Part 1

Here they are, photos from the from the first part of our trip to Nova Scotia. I have so many pictures that I am going to do a second post of the other half of the trip. Also because I can’t fit them all on my computer at once (I need more storage) and mostly because going through the thousands of pictures that I took is taking forever. Ha!

The trip. !0 days, Me, the mr, and Barb. All camping, a new provincial park ever night. 5 am hikes, playing on the ocean floor, eating all the pumpkins (me) and roman noodles(them) and a camp fire every night. I could give you all the details bu there was just so much packed in it is hard to get it all down and really so I leave it to the pictures.. All in all, besides the chaos of getting over the boarder. (Waiting at a rest stop for a few hours for test result emails… A whole lot of ridiculousness!) It was a freaking epic trip and I cannot wait to go back!

And we are back from our Nova Scotia road trip and boy was that an epic trip. We did so much, saw the most amazing things, and just had the best freaking time ever. I have a phone full of pictures that I need to get onto my computer and go through but once I do, I’ll post them and all about the trip.

Now back to life. The mr and Barb were smart and took a day or two to kind of ease back into life again. I on the other hand, have not taken it easy and have been go go go since the moment we came back. I just feel like I have so many things to do and catch up on, on top of all the new things that need to be done. I am trying to deal with the mess of a garden, restock my fridge with food, underglaze and glaze a million mugs, work at the studio, trim pots that need trimming, do all the laundry, see the people that need seeing, water the plants, and then planning all the birthday parties (and cake making) that’s to come in the next ew weeks. (3 parties all nest week 😬).

So yeah, I am freaking exhausted and I am still in a bit of a head fog. I am happy to be home but being gone for the first time in 2 years really reignited my travel itch and I am already planning out a few more adventures (camping through Norway, yes please). Until then, I will enjoy this gorgeous place I call home with all the fall colors popping on the trees and big mountains and cool fall weather. One of the things I love about going away is coming back. No matter where I go and how much I love being away, I’m alway so happy and feel so dang lucky to live here in Vermont.

Now it is Sunday and we are not skipping a beat. The camping stuff has been aired out, repacked, and is ready to go. Heading to Elmore to climb the mountian and sleep under the stars. This time of year is prime camping time and I am so so looking forward to a day of trees and peace and quiet!

How you doing? The weather around here is fine fine fine these past few days. I’ll focus on that because the world has got me going and feeling all softs of ways right now and I can’t even. It is so much. But apples right? And sweaters. I pulled on a sweater for the first time in what felt like forever and it was just the best.

Another week. Started off with the usual camp, hike, kayak, and soup. (It never gets old). We found ourselves crawling into the tent little earlier then usual because it’s getting darker earlier, and fell fast asleep because it is not stupid hot at night anymore! Then we woke up, drank coffee, walked around in the dark, and came back to town.

Back to the world and I had the same thought I have every time… “Why did we come back?” I really should live in a hut in the middle of the forest. Haha, but for reals. Anyway I spent most of the week down in my studio, doing my thing, staying away from people. Everyone is getting sick and I am not having any of that, no thank you. I did have lunch with Barb though cause its Barb and I also picked up farm share, went on many walks, glazed some stuff at the studio, and ate another entire watermelon all to myself. I am getting pretty good at that, if I do say so myself.

So yeah, not very eventful in my little bubble and I am a ok with that.

It’s back to Sunday and we are going camping and feeling fine for it. Going to try and not think to much about much of anything and just take the day as it is, away from people, the news, the things and the stuff, and be happy amongst the trees. And drink all the coffee. I can already tell its gonna be a extra few cups kind of day today!

I don’t want to sound like a whine ass but can’t it just be fall already? I am so sick of summer! Might not be the most popular opinion but like I have said many of times… I can’t stand being hot and therefore I do not like summer.

The week. Up until just a couple days ago it has been too stupid freaking hot and humid. Another heat wave and I am not having it anymore, (or at least that is what I tell myself. Not like there is anything I can do about it),, but at least we were camping. We went to Little River, hung out I the kayaks on the breezy cool reservoir, did a little hike but had to cut it short due to ongoing back pain (still) and a million tiny no see-ums flying into my eyeballs. We then went back to the campsite, made dinner, ate, sat around a very small fire (too freaking hot to rage it) and crawled into the tent. Woke up, drank the coffee and walked to the water, then packed up and headed home.

The rest of the week went by in a flash. I moved almost 100 green pieces to the studio to be fired (glazing next week is going to be a bear). We took the littles for ice cream after their first day of school (and to check out Judah’s new hair cut!) then we went and hung out with So who showed us all her halloween stuff and her mad skills at drawing with her feet. I picked up farm share. I ate an entire watermelon, and we did all the things that needed to be done, talked about some stuff that needed talking about, and made plans for the plans we have.

Last night the mr and I went up to Belvidere for a little adverntue with some of the family. We took a ride around 170 acres on a giant 4 wheeler contraption, (7 people. 5 seats. But we made it work. Only once did someone (David) fall off the back while in motion.) looked at barns and apple trees, and hung out with the coolest old lady that I have ever meet. Vermont people are the best!

Anywho, it’s Sunday. I am tires as all hell but whatever. The mr and I have the camping plans in place and I am ready to veg out mentally today. Should probably take it easy physically too cause my back is still the shit…. Or not, we will see how stupid I behave.
