Sunday Happy

December 6, 2015 Colleen Stem

YEAH! We got our tree this past weekend and now there is even less room to move around. (It takes up approximately1/4 of our living space, but I don't care. I love it!. We ventured south toth e rangers station, picked up our tree permit, and drove into the great mountains to find the smallest amount of (but still some) snow and the most perfect (so not even remotely close) tree growing snug, deep in the woods. We have been dong this for at least the past 5 years and every year, the trees we pick out get fatter and a little funnier. But they are always awesome and beautiful and make me the happiest! And now that we got our tree, I finally got to watch Elf. I say finally because me and the mr have a tradition where we string popcorn for the tree while watching it, so I usually wait until that night to watch it.(then I can watch it as much as I want after that)  Along with the popcorn, the mr suggested we do a paper chain (he is so smart) which came out so good and really classys up the tree.. I haven't taken any pictures of the decorated tree, but I will be sure to take some and show you later.

Other then the tree, this week was a world wind. Birthday parties, family crazy, new house stuff.  I powered through a couple of long nights and finished a quilt for one of the littles birthday. We have been going over to the new house almost everyday and doing a little this and a bit of that, on top of whatever else we do. Yup, another busy, fun and good, but very busy week. And now it's finally Sunday and all I am hopping for is a few hours of couch sitting with my book, and coffee, and some snow. (I have given up a little on winter here. What the F... Its just not right!)  And that's what I hope for you today, well I hope you take some time to do you and relax a bit. Maybe not go shapping ALL DAY or even feed the kids left over popcorn,  peanut butter sandwiches , and cookies for dinner tonight and just take some time to kick back. We all need it.

Oh, and to all of those celebrating.. Happy Hanukkah!

Sunday Happy

November 29, 2015 Colleen Stem

It’s been a crazy week for sure. The new house, Thanksgiving, (a few times), lots and lots of family… Let’s just say that I am one tired lady.

And now that thanksgiving is over (how did it go for you?) its holiday crazy go time. Although I am still really confused as to why the hell we haven’t gotten any snow. I am officially now pissed. It better snow soon or else (what I do not know) But things are getting real around here and I need to step up my game, like maybe even decorate the Noosk house with some lights, and of course Christmas music, 24/7. (the mr is not a fan of the music) Yeah, this is what I need to do.

A little new house update. First, we are going to start referring to the house as the Noosk house (cause its in Winooski) We have started ripping down the 70’s style tiled ceilings that are all over the entire house (so ug) and measure everything. Lots and lots of measuring. The mr is doing up house plans on a computer thingy and he needs to measure like ever nook and cranny of this place with exact measurements. Not something that I want to do (I bake cookies instead) And oh man, the oven. I don’t know what to do with it. I am falling in love with it but the mr says a hell no to keeping it. So until we do in fact get rid of it, I will continue to bring things over to bake in it.

So for today, I am going for a light load of work, maybe taking the afternoon off to finish up some little projects at home and to maybe keep myself from getting completely sick (I feel it coming on). I need to rest up for the onslaught of holiday cheer, cookie making, tree decorating, (YEAH TREE!!), light hanging, and wall and ceiling tearing down during the weeks ahead. “I am so EXITED! Are you?

Sunday HAppy

November 15, 2015 Colleen Stem

Another week gone by and another week without snow, except for yesterday morning. I got to enjoy a brief ½ walk with the pup in the wee hours of the morning to see the tiny dusting that developed over night. But even that was gone by mid morning. I am bumming here. I Want SNOW!

And I know that it isn’t for another 11 day, but Thanksgiving. It’s it 11 DAYS!  That’s 10 more day to contemplate pies and sides and all the things that could be made into existence. (I spend way too much time thinking about different pie variations, it actually causes me headaches.)

So what about you? Are you feeling the slight buzz of the holiday crazy yet? Are you a planner or a procrastinator, or are you just a guest and hanging pretty with nothing to worry about? Me. I am a planner but usually deviate from said plan and do something completely on the fly. What can I say; I have an overactive mind and am a bit indecisive about things. But the little bit of buzz.... that’s part of the fun. Just as long as a little crazy doesn’t turn into a lot of crazy, then I am good.

And as for my Sunday plans, I think the mr, the pup, and I are going to pack up and head for higher ground to get us some snow, although I should be doing so many things around here. Hum.. Chores or snow, we shall see!

Hope you are where you are having a relaxing fun day!

Has you week been full of fun and lots of crazy like mine has been? Whatever your answer is, just watch this cinnamon toast crunch commercial…  I laughed my ass soft so hard that I actually went to the you tube to watch it again.

Yes indeed. A week full of fullness. I managed 3 cake (not including pies and muffins and the such), kindergartener soccer practice, a end of summer hot-dog dinner, a few parties, work stuff, and have managed to not run away screaming from all the crazy that has been my life. (Hooray for me!) As always, the end of September has turned into  family crazy, which then leads too the beginning of the holiday nutters and the snowball effect sets in. So to but in lightly, the next few months are going to be LIKE WHOA!

But it's all good. I like some of that crazy (SOME!) Plus me and the mr always can find some time to do a few things that are just the two of us. Like yesterday, we went to our favorite harvest festival out in Underhill, where I scored some cool  jars and a vintage roasting pan and walked around looking at junk for like 3 hour.  Then we headed to the mountains where we leaf peeped a little (not much color yet), and the mr did some fishing. Then the day ended with a cuddle on the couch while we watched Moonrise Kingdom.(again) It was the most perfect day!

Now for today. After a few life chores that need to be done, I am going to bust out the flannel sheets and the wool blanket for the bed, grab a few more long shirts, sweaters, and socks, and bundle myself up, sit out side and read, knit, and drink coffee all afternoon. Oh and take a nap at some point so I can be awake for the eclipse tonight!!! (being awake at 10 is pushing it for me)

Anyways, Hope you peoples' are having some fun this weekend and getting yourself outside to enjoy the world!

Here, some fun and interesting internet stuff to check out.

Sunday Happy

September 20, 2015 Colleen Stem

WHAT WHAT..It's. Sunday already? That happened.

I guess starting off  last Monday pretty much a sleepless zombie didn't help, plus for some reason, the world became super hot again and that sent me over the edge. Once I get the taste for cool crisp weather, anything warm and hot makes me crazy. I felt almost ill all week from the heat. But I think (it really must be) the end of that weather. Next week is all about the low 70's with cold nights! Oh man, it's going to fantastic!

Yup, last week was a busy one, but we did manage to get in some fun. Wild apple picking (HARD CIDER), a little hike, and we did spend a fare amount of time at the garden. (which is on it's was out). We are trying to go every day cause we are still picking tomatoes, zucchinis, peppers and a few other things.  The flowers are still growing and the kale and chard are doing great, but you can just tell that this time next week, the tomatoes will be no more. The last zucchini is going to be picked, and as for the kale and chard. I am just goojg to harvest it all and eat it all to my face cause we are being kicked out of the garen plot by the end of the month. This makes me sad, but at least I have all of my house plants to surround my self with. And honestly, not going to the garden all the time, I'll have more time to sit on my butt and read and knit. (I am already falling behind on my knitting projects)

Anyway, today is definitely  going to be a me day. Tomorrow is the kick off for family birthday party season, which means I will be spending my weekends making lot s of cakes and going to a bunch of littles birthday parties. Fun times, but crazy. One a week for the next 6 months……I am already tired.

Coffee. That's all I need to get me through. Lots and lots of coffee.

Interent stuff to check out.
